This is the first picture of a short series. Mathew 24:31-46 speaks about how God will judge according to how we treat others, saying that "I [Jesus] tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Each of these pictures will display some sort of poverty or level of class. I don't do this to diminish those pictured, but to share the fact of their state with you. I know you probably don't need me to tell you about poverty in the world; I'm not trying to preach to anyone. I just want to show you what I saw and tell you what I think about it.
This effects you deeply, so it does me too. And in my position I am absolutely powerless to do anything about it! It makes me angry, frustrated and sad all in one. You have a good picture here that says many things about the moral state of humanity. Many more people need to see this photo especially those in a position to do something about this agonizing situation. I am glad you are sharing this with us!

I don't think there are a lot of times where we are truly powerless to change things. There are always things to do, even if it is just raising awareness.

Thanks for posting these. It's harder to respond to photos that demand more of the viewer as these do. This one in particular is painful to look at and leaves me with a feeling of dispair: this child like the bicycle behind looks utterly abandoned. One hopes she finds help, but the unescapable fact is that many children in Africa are essentially abandoned, having lost their parents and family to AIDS or other catastrophes. So, I don't know where that leaves us here behind our computers, but as I said, I'm grateful that you have documented and shared what you saw. That's a start.
